Enhance Communication between you and your child with a Speech Development Class in NYC
Do you want your child to get an early start on language and communication skills? This speech development class exposes babies age 6-24 months to language through songs, play, and language development techniques with certified speech-language pathologists! At home, you can use learned techniques from the class to enhance your child’s communication skills in their everyday environment.
This class, from our partners at Look Who’s Talking, is a part of our all drop-in schedule of programming. Each class includes specific techniques to encourage language for babies and toddlers, all integrated through songs, repetition, props, instruments, and bubbles! Families will receive a weekly recap email directly from Look Who’s Talking, so that they can continue their child’s progress at home, and reflect on the techniques used in class.

How much does the speech and language development class for babies cost?
Our speech development class is led via a partnership with master’s degree level speech pathologists from “Look Who’s Talking.” This class is offered at the same price as our toddler classes. If you’d like to use a baby class package instead, please contact us or text us at (929) 581-8234.
My child is a wiggle worm – will this be a distraction in class?
No! Being active and playful is normal for toddlers. We encourage children to follow their interests and move as they need to. We do not expect or require sitting for babies or toddlers!
Do I need to be present for class?
Yes. Kids at Work does not offer drop-off of any kind in its main location. Adult participation is essential during the Look Who’s Talking class.
How are objects, materials, and instruments sanitized between classes?
All objects and instruments that children come into contact with are sanitized in the following manner between classes, thanks to our wonderful teaching staff:
- Wiped down with child-safe soapy water and microfiber cloth
- Sprayed with department of health approved “food surface safe” sanitizer spray which contains .29% bleach.
- Left to air dry for a 3 minute virus “kill time”.
All large motor objects and foam mats are also cleaned in the same manner between classes. Our classroom floors and easel area are dust mopped and wet mopped between every single class. Walls and doors are cleaned and sanitized bi-weekly.
Why do we use a solution containing bleach? Our bleach solution, which contains only .29% bleach, is the same solution that restaurants use to sanitize surfaces that food comes into contact with. Sanitizers marketed towards babies such as babyganics or honest brand do NOT kill viruses such as COVID, RSV, flu etc. We learned a lot about sanitizing during COVID, when we were open throughout fall 2020 and all of 2021-2022.
Since our objects come into contact with multiple babies per day, our sanitizer is the safest way to keep your baby (and all adults) healthy.
You are more than welcome to grab a wipe and wipe off any excess sanitizer before your baby comes into contact with any of our objects! All objects are dry when they come into contact with students.
